The Saudi channel "Al-Sharq" reported this evening from sources that significant progress has been made in the negotiations for a hostage deal. According to the report, brought by the 'Israel Hayom' website, sources familiar with the details of the talks said that the way is "now open to reaching an agreement – as long as there is no unexpected development from the Israeli side at the last moment." The sources also stated that the intervention of the elected U.S. President, Donald Trump, in the negotiations has facilitated the progress.

According to sources, Israel has achieved several milestones in the updated agreement, which includes, among other things: In the first phase, 34 Israeli hostages will be released in exchange for a month and a half of ceasefire and the release of hundreds of terrorists, including several life-term prisoners, women, elderly, sick, and men under the age of 19.

The report further indicates that Israel will receive lists of living hostages and IDF forces will redeploy outside populated areas. In the first phase, the return of Palestinians to northern Gaza Strip will be allowed, conditional on a search by a third party.

The second phase will begin a week after the implementation of the first phase and will include the release of the remaining hostages in exchange for an agreed number of Palestinian prisoners and an additional period of ceasefire, which will last for a month and a half. This phase, according to the report, includes discussions on arrangements for ending the war and Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
