The Iranian regime feels vulnerable after the fall of the "Axis of Resistance," the disbandment of Hezbollah and Hamas, and is conducting extensive defense drills around the country's nuclear facilities.
Iranian media outlets report that the IRGC Ground Forces Command, responsible for "protecting strategic assets within Iranian territory," is expanding its activities around the country's nuclear sites.
The command has initiated a series of defensive exercises around the Iranian nuclear facilities, likely out of genuine concern over a potential Israeli attack and a second Trump term. According to reports, the internal command of the Revolutionary Guards has conducted a series of defensive exercises around the enrichment facility in the city of Natanz in recent weeks, but has now also begun conducting exercises at the nuclear facilities in the city of Fordow and in the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province.
The first defensive drills began after Israel destroyed the facility's air defense system on April 19 of last year, but now the Iranians have also expanded the drills in Natanz and have started conducting drills around additional nuclear facilities.
The Revolutionary Guards have defined the drills as a military operation named "Akatdar" in Persian or "Otzma" in Hebrew, and they are expected to last until March. According to a source in the Revolutionary Guards, the exercises include "the operation of missile batteries, electronic warfare, and intelligence gathering in both defensive and offensive scenarios."
In the West, it is believed that these exercises herald genuine anxiety within the regime and the Revolutionary Guards about the prospects of an Israeli attack, or even a joint attack by the US and Israel. These exercises are intended to "deter" the West from directly targeting nuclear facilities.
