Eight soldiers from the Rotem Battalion of the Givati Brigade were injured over the weekend while conducting an operation in Jabalia, located in the northern Gaza Strip.
According to Kan News, three of the soldiers sustained severe injuries but have since stabilized. The IDF has notified the soldiers’ families, though the incident has not been widely publicized. Preliminary reports suggest the injuries resulted from an explosive device detonated inside a building the soldiers had entered.
The operation in Jabalia is part of the IDF’s broader campaign in northern Gaza, which began three months ago. The campaign moved from Jabalia to Beit Lahia and is now concentrating on Beit Hanoun in the northeastern strip, near Kibbutz Erez, Nir-Am, and Sderot.
The IDF noted that current operations are proceeding more slowly and methodically compared to earlier raids. The strategic focus includes efforts to protect critical infrastructure, such as restoring railway operations in Sderot, which remains vulnerable to terrorist anti-tank fire.
On Saturday morning, the IDF announced the deaths of four soldiers in a separate incident near Beit Hanoun. At approximately 10:00 a.m., their vehicle struck an explosive device while on the outskirts of the city. Six additional soldiers were injured, including one seriously.
The IDF is investigating whether the explosive attack was accompanied by gunfire from nearby terrorists. The recent wave of attacks underscores the heightened risks faced by Israeli forces during their operations in Gaza.
