After the public confrontation between Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari, Katz is not expected to fire Hagari in the immediate future, but he intends to take several steps to make it clear to Hagari that he is no longer welcome in the IDF.
According to the report by Kan News, Katz, as mentioned, will not act to dismiss Hagari, but he does not intend to promote him to the rank of general, which will prevent him from receiving the positions he is competing for.
About a month ago, it was reported on Galei Tzahal that Hagari is currently competing for two general officer positions in the General Staff: Head of the Strategy and Iran Division and IDF Attaché in Washington. According to the report, in the coming months, Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi is expected to decide on the matter and determine which position to appoint Geri to.
Hageri was appointed as the IDF Spokesperson about two years ago. Prior to that, he served, among other roles, as the head of the Naval Operations Division, commander of Flotilla 13, assistant to the Chief of Staff, and head of the Naval Operations Department.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit responded to the report: "Brigadier General Daniel Hagari is not currently competing for any position, and there is no date for the end of his term as IDF Spokesperson."
