According to the IDF, Abu Namos directed Hamas terrorist activity against Israeli citizens and IDF troops in the Netzarim Corridor, and also served as a significant source of knowledge in the terror organization.

The IDF has been operating in the northern Gaza Strip for a few months now, with the aim of destroying the remaining Hamas forces and infrastructure in Gaza City and in the adjacent towns of Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun.
Hamas successfully fired a number of rockets from various parts of the Gaza Strip, each leading to a targeted IDF operation to destroy Hamas forces and infrastructure from the area of the launch site.
Defense Minister Katz recently warned that if Hamas did not agree to a hostage deal amenable to Israel soon, the IDF would operate at a level of force not seen in "a long time" in Gaza.
President-elect Donald Trump has threatened that there would be "Hell" to pay if a hostage deal was not reached by the time of his inauguration in 11 days, though he did not specify what steps he would take.
