A security source told Al-Arabiya, the Saudi news channel today (Wednesday) that Israel intends to bomb Beirut's Rafiq Hariri airport if Iran's Quds Force transfers funds to Hezbollah.

Last Thursday, it was reported that Iran was trying to smuggle money and weapons to Hezbollah through an Iranian plane that landed at the airport in the capital, Beirut. Security authorities at the airport searched the Iranian plane and all the passengers' belongings and examined two suspicious files of diplomats.

Lebanese security sources said that contacts had been held with the Iranian side regarding the plane. The sources confirmed that they had informed the Iranians that the airport authorities would confiscate any suspicious luggage.

A diplomat who was on the flight claimed that the bags "contain documents, papers and bills to pay operating expenses – for the use of the embassy only."

Lebanese Interior Minister Bassam Malawi told Al-Arabiya on Friday that everything and everyone who passes through Beirut's airport will be subject to inspection. "We search everyone who passes through Beirut's airport, even diplomats.

Since October 2024, the Lebanese army has been tasked with supervising aircraft takeoffs and landings and inspections inside the airport. A number of Lebanese politicians opposed to Hezbollah have repeatedly accused the terrorist organization of controlling this vital facility, as well as other crossings in the country, in order to smuggle weapons from Iran as well as money.
