Amid negotiations for a ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages, a senior Israeli official warns of the terrorist organization Hamas's intentions to intensify its terrorist activities. Additionally, the official states that Israel is closely monitoring Hamas's move to establish a presence in Syria and has identified the movement of Hamas and Islamic Jihad there.

According to the senior official in a conversation with the ynet website, "Hamas is frustrated with the situation and is seeking achievements elsewhere. While in the Gaza Strip they are struggling to achieve victories, in Israel there is growing concern over attempts by Hamas and Islamic Jihad to carry out terrorist attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets abroad." He also noted that "Hamas is the one pushing to carry out attacks against targets outside the country's borders."

Another burden from the report is that in Israel, there is also concern about the "entrenchment" of Hamas and Islamic Jihad members in Syria. According to the official, this involves about 2,000 Hamas members and about 7,000 Islamic Jihad members who are in the neighboring country.
