UPDATE: Two suspects in al-Fandaq shooting Identified as known terror operatives

The IDF spokesperson noted that the suspects' eventual arrest was considered inevitable due to their previous known status. The investigation is ongoing.

Israeli security forces have identified two of the three suspects in this morning's shooting attack in the West Bank (Samaria) as known operatives who were already on their wanted list. The suspects are residents of Jenin and Qabatiya in the northern West Bank, while the identity of the third attacker remains unknown.

Initial investigations reveal the attackers used long-barreled weapons in the assault. A civilian at the scene returned fire, forcing the attackers to flee. During their escape, the suspects opened fire on another vehicle containing a police officer. A manhunt is currently underway.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions in the region, particularly around the Jenin refugee camp, where Israeli forces have maintained a hands-off approach for over a month, allowing Palestinian Authority security forces to operate. While investigators have not confirmed whether the attackers originated from the refugee camp or elsewhere in the northern West Bank, military officials say they are examining possible connections.

During the attack, as reported by Times of Israel, MDA said that "Two women in their 60s who had been in one of the cars were declared dead at the scene, along with a man in his 40s who had been in the second car, some 150 meters (490 feet) away. At least eight people on the bus were wounded in the attack, including the driver."
