IDF eliminates and captures PIJ commander and Hamas terrorist

IDF eliminated PIJ senior commander involved in October 7th massacre

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced the elimination of Sa’ed Saeed Zaki Dahnoun, a senior commander from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), by troops from the Givati Brigade. Dahnoun was a key figure involved in the October 7th massacre, where he infiltrated Israeli territory and orchestrated several ambushes on IDF forces. He held the position of company commander and deputy head of the rocket array in northern Gaza for PIJ.

Dahnoun’s involvement in the brutal attacks during the October 7th massacre, as well as his planning and leadership in ambushes against IDF troops in Beit Lahia, had made him a high-value target. Last week, IDF forces, operating under the command of the 162nd Division, engaged him in close-quarters combat, where they successfully eliminated him.

During the operation, IDF troops captured footage showing Dahnoun and another terrorist advancing toward the soldiers under the cover of rain and darkness, using blankets for concealment. In a swift engagement, Dahnoun was eliminated. After his death, the second terrorist, who had been accompanying him, surrendered to the encircling troops.

The captured terrorist was taken into Israeli custody for further questioning. During the arrest, an improvised explosive device (IED) was discovered in their possession.

The IDF confirmed that Dahnoun’s elimination was a significant blow to the PIJ's operations in the region, noting his role in the October 7th massacre and the ongoing ambushes against Israeli forces. The operation underscores the continued efforts of the IDF to target key terrorist figures and neutralize threats posed by groups such as PIJ.
