Last month, the Jerusalem Police Hotline received a report about a resident of the city center who had been violently attacked in her home in the city center.

A preliminary investigation conducted at the scene and at the hospital to which the victim, a 70-year-old resident of the city, was evacuated, raised suspicions that this was not a criminal case.

In light of this, a joint investigation was launched by the Israel Security Agency and the Central Unit of the Jerusalem District. A few hours after the attack, and after intensive interrogation operations were carried out in the area by police and Shin Bet investigators, the 60-year-old terrorist, a resident of the Silwan neighborhood in the eastern part of the city, was detained for questioning, in cooperation with IDF forces.

The terrorist's detention was extended in court, and a gag order was imposed on the details of the investigation, which was lifted this morning (Sunday).

His interrogation revealed that the very night before the attack, and while he was acquainted with the victim by virtue of his occupation as a cleaner in her apartment building, the terrorist arrived at the victim's home as part of a repair service that the victim needed in her apartment.

That evening, after informing her that he was required to purchase screws in order to repair the malfunction, the victim paid the terrorist the sum of 100 shekels, and he promised to come the next morning.

According to the summary, the next day the terrorist arrived at the victim's home and his interrogation revealed that he had already decided to carry out an attack that day. At some point, while he was in her apartment, the terrorist began to strangle the victim until he thought she was dead, and began walking towards the door of the house in order to escape.

But then he noticed that he had forgotten the walking stick with which he had been helping, and so he turned back to the center of the apartment. At this point, he noticed that the victim was still alive, so he took a knife from a drawer in the apartment and began to stab her in the upper body repeatedly, and then left the scene, not before stealing jewelry and property from her possession.

The victim, despite her serious injury, managed to call her daughter and report her condition, and so police and rescue forces were quickly called to the scene. As a result of the terrorist's actions, and after life-saving initial treatment in her apartment, the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition and conscious, while the fleeing terrorist made his way to Judea and Samaria, passing through a jewelry store in East Jerusalem and selling them the jewelry he had stolen from the victim's possession. During the investigation, the investigators of the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office were able to locate the jewelry at the business and return it.

The terrorist was brought to a hearing today for an additional remand extension, in which a prosecutor's statement was submitted regarding the intention to file an indictment against him on behalf of the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office in the coming days, after the investigative activities in his case were completed and an evidentiary basis was formed regarding his terrorist acts.
