Freed Hostage: 'Liri's video gave me flashbacks'
Former hostage reacts to Hamas video of Liri Albag
Yagil Yaakov, who was kidnapped at 13 with his brother from Nir Oz and released after 52 days in the first hostage deal, shared his emotional response to a recent video released by Hamas featuring hostage Liri Albag. Yagil, who was also held captive in Gaza, reflected on his own traumatic experience after watching the video.

Freed Hostage Yagil Yaakov Reflects on Liri Albag's Video: 'It Gave Me Flashbacks'
In an Instagram post, Yagil described how the video of Liri, taken during her captivity, brought back painful memories. "The video of Liri Albag gave me a flashback of myself over a year ago, standing in front of a Kalashnikov aimed at me, scared, begging to go home," he wrote. "A terrorist told me what to say, and I was alone with no one, hoping that my mom would really see this and know that I just want to go home."
Yagil also expressed his solidarity with Liri's family, who have been enduring the agony of her captivity for over a year. "Liri has been missing for over a year, just like my brother, who enlisted in the army. Liri needs to come home," he added. "The Albag family, who understands what you're going through now, we are all with you. Just a little longer, Liri, and my father and all the captives will be home."
Liri Elbag was kidnapped more than 456 days ago by Hamas, and her family recently released a video showing her pleading for her life. The emotional video devastated her family, who described her deteriorating mental and physical condition. "This is not the daughter and sister we know," they said. "We saw our brave Liri surviving and pleading for her life. For 456 days, we have not been able to bring her home."
Yagil's personal story of captivity and his connection with Liri's plight are poignant reminders of the ongoing struggles faced by hostages and their families. Tragically, three months after Yagil's release, his father, Yair, was killed in the Hamas invasion, and his body is still being held in Gaza.
