The IDF reported that the clash unfolded as terrorists attempted to attack IDF forces by placing explosive devices near them, as well as throwing firebombs, explosives, and rocks. In response, the IDF fired on the terrorists to neutralize the threat. The forces emphasized that their actions were aimed at eliminating the danger posed by the attackers.
In addition to the firefight, the IDF received reports of an explosive device planted by the terrorists in the area. Thankfully, no IDF personnel were injured, according to an IDF spokesperson.
This operation follows a similar mission carried out last month in Shechem, where Israeli forces arrested terrorists who had barricaded themselves inside a building. The operation used a "pressure cooker" tactic, involving the demolition of the building with the suspects still inside. After an exchange of fire, the terrorists surrendered and were found with two M-16 rifles, which were seized before the suspects were taken into custody for further investigation.
Upon entering the site following the operation, Israeli forces discovered a kit for activating explosives, several magazines, and other military equipment. Additionally, another suspect was shot and wounded by the IDF during the operation.
