A Rehovot resident renovating his parents' house discovered a large cache of weapons from Israel's various wars, which had been illegally collected and stored over the years, according to a statement today (Friday) by the Israel Police.
Officers from the Rehovot station arrived following the call and found dozens of rifles and pistols of various types, as well as old grenades and a great deal of ammunition.
All the weapons were examined and then taken to the Rehovot station.
Watch:
The problem of IDF soldiers taking home "souvenirs" - whether weapons or other military keepsakes, has often been a real problem for the army, and the IDF occasionally declares an "amnesty period" allowing would-be collectors to return the items without fear of criminal punishment or sanction.
