According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the United States has transferred about 22 billion dollars' worth of military equipment since October 7, 2023, according to Ynet.
The Institute's report stated that while Israel received about 69% of its weapons from the US between 2019 and 2023, that number shot up to 78% subsequently. This is likely due not only to the massive increase in American aid but also the slow "silent embargo" on weapons sales imposed by a number of European countries as the war went on.
The weapons delivered to Israel, tens of thousands of tons' worth of equipment brought in hundreds of planes and ships, included missiles for the Iron Dome system, precision-guided bombs, attack helicopters, artillery shells, bombs, and armored vehicles.
Despite this, Israel and the US have been at loggerheads over the timing and delivery of specific weapons shipments since the second half of the war, with the United States claiming it is delaying some shipments over human rights concerns and Israel saying that the delays prevent Israel from properly prosecuting the war.
Israel is openly hoping that the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump will put an end to the delays and the bureaucratic foot-dragging.
