Last night it was reported that Iran's Revolutionary Guards planned to kidnap Israeli journalist Avik Yitzhaki, who works for the "Iran International" network opposing the Ayatollah regime.
A few hours after the publication, Yitzhaki responded to the uproar in an interview on the 'Avri and Sharqi' show on Keshet 12: "I am a golden egg for them, maybe they would want to replace me with someone. I am Israeli, opposed to the regime, working for a newspaper that is one of the regime's biggest enemies. 'Iran International' is considered a terrorist organization by them. It is the role of the intelligence and security agencies within Israel to protect my life, they are aware and we are in constant contact with them."
He added, "Apparently, I am very disturbing to them with the reports I make from Israel. I address the people in Iran in Persian and broadcast from anywhere something has happened in Israel, revealing many of the regime's lies. I anger them; they not only follow me but also many other journalists. One of my colleagues was stabbed in London, and before that, Mossad informed the London police that they were going to blow up our building in the city. Our channel has many capabilities via satellite, so they cannot block it."
About the channel he works for, Yitzhaki said: "Our ratings exceed forty percent within Iran. Anyone who wants to know what is really happening without censorship needs to watch our channel, and this has caused the regime to shut us down, weaken us, and threaten us. It's not just that they threatened me, but they are threatening the journalist. Our role is to expose the truth and be the watchdog of democracy; all journalist organizations in Israel should condemn this."
