In light of reports on attempts to reach a deal for the release of hostages, Dr. Hagar Mizrahi, head of the Health Ministry's Medical Division, addressed the medical condition of the hostages and said that they are all classified as being in serious condition. In an interview with Kan Reshet Bet, Mizrahi said, "It is proven in the report that from a health perspective, everyone who is still in captivity is in serious condition and all are humanitarian."
Mizrahi added: "The document speaks of starvation, physical and mental abuse. Harsh descriptions of being tied up and kept in the dark for long days. This is a planned operation by Hamas. It is clear that the conditions have worsened since then, both in terms of starvation and the conditions in which the hostages are currently held. It is clear that anyone who is there now is in a very difficult situation."
She added that some of the hostages died of starvation: "There was a weight loss of 8-15 kilograms over about two months, due to very little food. In some places, they were fed only basic products in very small quantities. The medical conditions were harsh, and they were denied regular medical treatment. We can say that some died as a result of inadequate medical care."
She emphasized that "it was important for the information to be in a written and clear form, while maintaining the privacy of the individuals. The interviews were conducted with professionals and not with the returned hostages themselves, but were based on their conversations and testimonies. This tells the whole world what happened there."
