A heated exchange erupted on X between Jewish commentators and right-wing personality Mike Cernovich regarding his defense of controversial media figure Candace Owens.
Cernovich, who has 1.3 million followers, defended Owens after Jewish X user Jason Lazarus questioned his reluctance to criticize her recent statements. "You supported her commentary on black-on-black crime without calling it racist. What's different now?" Cernovich argued.
Yossi Gestetner, a Hasidic commentator, countered that Owens' criticism of Black Lives Matter differs fundamentally from her Israel commentary. "She's now attributing global issues to Jews and Israel, fixating on decades-old incidents like the USS Liberty and Leo Frank cases. Her recent content disproportionately focuses on these topics with extreme negativity," Gestetner explained.
He added that while Owens' focus on African American issues reflects her background, her intense criticism of Jewish and Israeli matters seems misplaced given she has no personal connection to either community.
Rabbi Yaakov Menken, Managing Director of Coalition for Jewish Values, joined the debate, revealing that Cernovich had blocked him. "Cernovich blocks critics who expose his anti-Jewish prejudice," Menken stated.
