WATCH: IDF Haredi unit Netzah Yehudah celebrates Hanukkah with halacha quiz
This event is just one of many within the unit, aiming to highlight how soldiers serving in Netzah Yehudah maintain and deepen their observance while serving in the army.
On Thursday (the second candle lighting day of Hanukkah), at the initiative of Rabbi Adir Almoshenino, a member of the Netzah Yehudah Association, a quiz was held for the August 24 company of the IDF's Haredi Netzah Yehudah battalion.
The quiz was the peak of an intensive month and a half study process, during which 60 soldiers in the company entered for an in-depth study of the Hannukah Laws.
Six soldiers excelled in the preliminary test and were promoted to the final quiz stage, which took place in the presence of Netzah Yehudah Rabbis, commanders, and many of its soldiers.
The winners of the quiz are as follows: First Place: Adir Chahim. Second place: Itai Rasad. Third Place: Eliav Avizihar. Fourth Place: Assaf Ben Zvi.
The Netzah Yehudah unit frequently conducts events of this kind, with the aim of maintaining and deepening Jewish observance and knowledge while fighting to defend the State of Israel from its enemies - just as the Maccabees did two thousand years ago.
