Five dead in suspected Israeli strike near Damascus

The incident follows a pattern of strikes in Syria that regional observers typically attribute to Israel, though Israel rarely comments on specific operations.

Multiple news sources report that a suspected Israeli airstrike hit targets in the Damascus suburbs today (Sunday), killing five people.

The strike was first reported by Saudi Arabia's Al-Sharq news channel.

Russian state news agency Sputnik earlier reported explosions near the city of Adra, on the outskirts of Damascus. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitoring group based in Britain, indicated the target was likely an ammunition depot.
