Iran's Strategic Moves: Nuclear Ambitions and Military Retaliation

The latest plan: Iran poses a troubling threat to Israel and the U.S.

Planning the next threat? Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the coming year will be "important for the nuclear issue." This comes as the latest threat against the US and Israel. The statement was made shortly after meeting with his Chinese counterpart.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the coming year will be "important for the nuclear issue." He made the statement after a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, during which they also discussed the Iranian nuclear program, in light of the return of the elected president of the United States, Donald Trump, to the White House.

In a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry after the meeting, it was written that "Beijing supports Tehran's right to defend its interests."

A few days ago, after Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that Israel had eliminated Ismail Haniyeh, Iran responded. In an official letter sent by the Iranian ambassador to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, they requested recognition of the legitimacy of the ballistic missile attack, as reported by Walla.

"This brazen act highlights Israel's role in terrorism, legitimizing Iran's response on October 1, 2024," it was written.

Last Monday, Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that Israel eliminated the leader of Hamas's political bureau, Haniyeh – and also threatened the leaders of the Houthis, saying they are next in line.

Additionally, on the same day, two Mossad agents revealed more details about the beeper operation in Lebanon. "We will strike hard at the Houthis, hit their strategic infrastructure, and decapitate their leaders – just as we did to Haniyeh, Sinwar, and Nasrallah in Tehran, Gaza, and Lebanon – we will do in Hodeidah and Sanaa," said the Defense Minister.

In July, Hamas announced that the head of its political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Tehran, where he was visiting to attend the inauguration ceremony of the incoming Iranian president.

According to a statement by the Revolutionary Guards quoted by the Iranian news agency, the house where Haniyeh was staying was attacked. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards claimed that the Hamas leader was eliminated by a short-range missile launched from outside the country towards the compound where he was staying in Tehran. They also claimed that the assassination was carried out by Israel with the support of the "criminal American administration," and promised a "severe response" at the appropriate place, time, and manner.
