Multiple Yemen media outlets report Israeli airstrikes have hit strategic targets in Yemen, including Sanaa International Airport's control tower and facilities at Hodeida port. The strikes occurred as Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi was delivering a speech.
The IDF officially confirmed conducting military strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen.
In an official statement, the IDF said it targeted Houthi infrastructure along Yemen's western coast and deep inside the country. The military specified that the targeted facilities were used for Iranian weapons transfers and to facilitate the movement of Iranian officials in the region.
Houthi response:
The leader of the Houthi terrorist organization, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, has responded to Israel's strikes, asserting that Israel has no ability to defeat the Houthis.
According to Channel 12 News, al-Houthi stated: "The ongoing operations from Yemen using drones and missiles against Israel, including Tel Aviv, are evidence of failure against Yemen."
He further added that "Israel faces an intelligence challenge in Yemen and has failed to obtain the necessary information. Israeli deterrence has failed against our country, despite aggressive strikes that hit civilian facilities in Sanaa and Hodeidah."
Sources within Yemen have echoed these sentiments, telling Al-Mayadeen news network that the operations will not affect Houthi military capabilities.
"These strikes will change nothing in our operational stance," the sources stated, promising continued military action against Israel and warning of retaliation for today's attacks.
The sources claimed that Israel's targeting of what they described as civilian infrastructure demonstrates a lack of viable military targets in Yemen, suggesting that "Israel has no real target bank in our territory."
The statements, reported by journalist Roi Kais, indicate an escalation in the rhetoric between the two sides.
