Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a menorah lighting ceremony tonight (Wednesday), in the presence of workers at the Prime Minister's Office and at the office, and of the parents of First Sergeant Omer Neutra, who was murdered on October 7th and whose body is being held by Hamas.
Before lighting, the Prime Minister gave a brief statement captured on video:
"We are lighting the first candle of Hannukah to mark the victory of the Maccabees of then and the victory of the 'Maccabees of today.'"
He then elaborated on the comparison:
"Just like then - we are dealing blows to our enemies...the Houthis, too, will learn what Hamas and Hezbollah and the Assad regime and others learned and even if it takes time, this lesson will be learned across the Middle East. I tell you: in those days as in our times."
He ended by saying:
"Happy Holiday to all of you."
