On the eighth candle of Hanukkah (January 1, 2025), the World Bible Quiz for adults will resume, after a year of hiatus in the shadow of the "Iron Swords" war.

In a special event in Jerusalem ten contestants from Jewish communities from around the world – from the United States, Canada, France, Argentina and Peru – will gather to demonstrate the love of the Bible that unites the Jewish people in Israel and the Diaspora.

Minister of Education, Yoav Kisch: "In these days of Hanukkah, the World Bible Quiz carries a deeper meaning than ever. It illuminates the inseparable connection between our people and the Book of Books and our land. Especially now, when our identity and our right to the land are being tested, the quiz reminds us and the entire world of the depth of our roots here.

He continued: "We have recently launched 'Bible Trails' – an educational project that will lead our students along the paths of history, from Jerusalem to Shiloh, to strengthen the connection to the heritage of the Bible and Jewish identity. I wish success to all the impressive contestants from Israel and the Diaspora, and warm congratulations to the winners who will celebrate the love of the Bible."

Director General of the Ministry of Education, Meir Shimoni stated: "The World Bible Quiz is a living bridge between the Jewish communities in Israel and in the Diaspora. Especially at this time, when the entire nation unites around its eternal values, the quiz emphasizes the power of heritage to illuminate our path. By studying the Bible and passing it on to future generations, we strengthen national resilience and the unity of the people."

The quiz, which will be held in the presence of the Minister of Education, the Director General of the Ministry and the Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Yaakov Hagoel, has a special significance this year under the title "Light to the Nations." The event will be moderated by journalist Ofer Hadad, and the questions will be composed by Liron Ben Moshe, the winner of the World Bible, who lost his brother, the late Major Ariel Ben Moshe, in the Battle of Re'im on October 7.
