According to the Kazakhstan authorities, at least 25 people survived the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane in the city of Aktau today (Wednesday), 22 of whom were taken to the hospital to be treated, including two children, according to Tengri News.

The plane, which left Baku for Grozny in Russia controlled Chechnya, was forced to divert to another airport due to thick fog over Grozny - first to Makhachkala, and then to Aktau.

Over a hundred rescue personnel are on site and have already put out the fire caused by the crash and rescued the survivors found so far.

The Kazakh Health Minister said that a national headquarters has been set up to deal with the crash, and the Transportation Ministry said that a special investigation will be conducted into the crash.
