Five Syrian civilians were reportedly injured today (Wednesday) while protesting the presence of IDF soldiers near Quneitra, according to al-Arabiya.

Protests have broken out in a number of villages near Quneitra against the presence and actions of IDF forces in Syria, who are there to seize weapons which could be used against Israel and dismantle defensive fortifications.

When the IDF first crossed the border and the separation of forces zone, they were originally met with a mixture of curiosity and welcome, but that appears to be coming to an end, at least in some parts of the area controlled by the IDF.

Previously, leaders of villages along the border issued an open letter calling on the IDF to leave Syria in return for a promise to hand over all weapons to the police based in the city of Quneitra.
