Early Wednesday morning, just before 4:30 a.m., sirens blared across central Israel, including the Shfela (Lowlands) and Judea, following the launch of a rocket from Yemen by the Houthis. Residents reported hearing explosions as tensions escalated for the second consecutive night.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit confirmed that the missile, launched from Yemen, was intercepted before it could cross into Israeli territory. Sirens were activated as a precaution, warning of potential falling shrapnel from the interception.
Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics treated nine individuals who sustained injuries while rushing to shelters, along with two others who experienced anxiety attacks.
The incident temporarily disrupted operations at Ben Gurion Airport, with arrivals suspended for about 30 minutes. A plane approaching the airport was rerouted northward as a safety measure.
In Be’er Ya’akov, a city near Ness Ziona and Rishon Lezion, the mayor reported debris from the intercepted rocket had fallen into the yard of a home. No injuries or further damage were reported.
