The IDF said that the attack was carried out following a call to the population to evacuate the area for its own protection, one of many such announcements issued by the IDF Spokesperson for Arabic.

The IDF continues to operate in the northern Gaza Strip, including parts of Gaza City and the towns of Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun, where three soldiers were killed by an IED earlier in the week.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that he believes more intense military pressure is the way to force Hamas to agree to a hostage deal on terms more favorable to Israel than the current emerging deal.
