Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar sent a letter today (Tuesday) to US Ambassador to the UN and current Security Council President Linda Thomas-Greenfield to convene an emergency meeting to condemn Houthi missile attacks on Israel.
In his letter, Sa'ar listed some of the Houthi drone and missile attacks which have occurred recently, including the launching of a ballistic missile which destroyed a school building in Ramat Gan.
Sa'ar said that "this Iranian backed terror group continues to endanger Israel's and other nations' security, as well as the freedom of maritime navigation, in flagrant violation of international law."
The Foreign Minister therefore beseeched the Security Council President to convene an emergency meeting to condemn the Houthis' illegal actions and Iranian support and provision for the same, due to their violation of referenced UNSC regulations.
Sa'ar ended by asking that the letter be shared with other members of the Security Council, noting that he had already sent a similar letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
