Welfare Minister Yaakov Margi posted a heartfelt eulogy on X today (Tuesday) for Hanna Katzir, the released hostage who died today following months of failing health.
In his statement, he said that "the Welfare and Social Security Ministry bows its head in deep sorrow and great pain over the death of Hanna Katzir ob"m, a woman who became a symbol of strength, bravery, and great hope in the last year.
"Hanna, who survived the horrors of captivity, proved the power of the human spirit to all of us. Even in the most difficult days and after losing her loved ones - her husband Rami and her son Elad ob"m - and her health deteriorated, she remained a source of strength for all of us."
Margi then went on to say that "in recent months, Hanna resided in the Welfare Ministry's assisted living framework, and we got to know a special woman up close. Despite all the difficulties and pain, Hanna radiated human warmth and life wisdom. She was a model to all of us in the way she dealt with the challenges she faced."
He ended by saying that "in my name and in the name of the Welfare Ministry, I participate in the sorrow of the family and hope that all the hostages will quickly return to their homes."
