Fatah has reportedly announced its intention to ban Al Jazeera from operating in the West Bank, according to Israeli media citing Palestinian sources. The decision comes amid rising tensions and clashes between Palestinian Authority security forces and terrorist factions in Jenin.
Fatah accused the Qatari news outlet of inciting violence, particularly in light of the Palestinian Authority’s ongoing large-scale operation in Jenin to combat terrorist groups.
The operation, which began earlier in December, is part of broader efforts to assert control over areas increasingly influenced by armed factions.
This move follows Israel’s earlier decision in May to shut down Al Jazeera's operations within Israel, citing the outlet's alleged ties to Hamas. The Israeli government raided Al Jazeera’s offices and confiscated equipment, a move that was later supported by the Tel Aviv District Court in June.
The court ruled that there was “convincing” evidence of the network's long-standing connection to Hamas, labeling it a terror group.
