Lebanese media outlet al-Jadid reports that US Envoy Amos Hochstein is set to visit Lebanon in the next week and a half to discuss the implementation of UN Resolution 1701 with Parliamentary Speaker Nabih Berri and caretaker Prime Minister Nagib Mikati.

Hochstein will reportedly also discuss the upcoming Presidential election in the Lebanese Parliament on January 9, 2025. The election of a President for the country has become an increasingly pressing issue, as the seat has remained vacant for about two years now.

Prime Minister Mikati recently toured parts of southern Lebanon and discussed how the Lebanese Army would be taking over responsibility for the security and disarmament of the area in accordance with Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement with Israel.
