Four months after he was rescued

"My mind is still in Gaza," says freed hostage in emotional interview

Qadi's frustration was palpable. "This deal should have happened long ago," he said firmly. "They're alone there, suffocating, while we go about our daily lives here. It's unbearable to think about."

Four months after his dramatic rescue from Hamas captivity, Farhan Qadi opened up about his ongoing struggle to rebuild his life, while making an impassioned plea for those still held in Gaza.

"Sometimes I wake up in a panic, not believing I'm really home," Qadi told Channel 12 in an interview on Monday. "I kick and scream in my sleep. The nightmares... they're relentless."

Still receiving treatment for a gunshot wound to his leg and dealing with hearing problems from his 11-month captivity, Qadi described his difficult journey toward recovery. "The physical wounds are one thing, but mentally - my head is still in Gaza," he said, his voice heavy with emotion.

The memories of friends lost on October 7th haunt him daily. "I lost someone who was like a brother to me," he shared. "You try to move forward, but you know this will stay with you forever. Gaza... it doesn't just leave you."

Despite strong support from family, friends, and state services, Qadi struggles to adjust to normal life. "Every family in Israel was touched by October 7th," he reflected. "But for those with loved ones still in Gaza, this nightmare continues every single day."

He concluded with a direct message to Prime Minister Netanyahu: "Get these people out already. No one should have to endure what we went through. Not for one more day."
