The following puzzling fact has now come to light: Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi heads all the teams investigating the failures and events in the October 7 attack, according to Channel 14's political commentator Yaakov Bardugo.
Among the omissions and incidents that the teams are investigating are those in which he himself, the Chief of Staff, was involved. Halevy sets the agenda of the investigative teams, the order of the discussions and the questions asked. A number of investigations were also suspended due to the Chief of Staff's lack of time.
The same political sources strongly criticize the conduct of Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, but the IDF Spokesperson denies and claims that the Chief of Staff does not head any investigative team.
In addition, Bardugo published that Maj. Gen. Aharon Haliwa, the former head of Military Intelligence, submitted a 15-page summary document and about 30 hours of footage, which is essentially the investigation of the entire IDF Intelligence Directorate – before October 7, during and after the day of the attack.
This investigation was not presented to the political echelon. It was presented to the chief of staff four or five months ago, during the change of head of Military Intelligence, and the issue came up last Friday at a meeting of the General Staff, and Maj. Gen. Haliva was not there to present his report.
