Last week, thousands of participants filled the Beit Menachem Synagogue in Kfar Chabad to celebrate the 19th of Kislev, a significant holiday in the Hassidic calendar, among them was IDF Spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari.

Known as Yat Kislev or Yud Tes Kislev, the day commemorates the passing of the Maggid of Mezritch, an early Hassidic master, and the liberation of Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the first Rebbe of Chabad, from imprisonment.

The event, organized by the Kfar Chabad Council, saw a diverse attendance, including IDF Spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari and Maj. Gen. David Zini. Notable moments included Rabbi Shlomo Yehuda Be’eri, known as the Yenuka, performing the Niggun of Four Stanzas on the keyboard, and Ra’anan Levy, father of fallen soldier Maj. Ilay Levy, reciting Psalms for the salvation of hostages.

Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm, Chabad emissary to Zhytomyr, Ukraine, was the guest of honor. He shared poignant stories about evacuating orphaned children to safety during the ongoing conflict.

The evening also featured addresses from prominent figures, including Chief Rabbis Kalman Ber and David Yosef, as well as several government ministers: Housing and Construction Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf, Welfare Minister Yaakov Mergi, Minister of Heritage Amihai Eliyahu, and Galilee and Negev Development Minister Yitzhak Wasserlauf.

Classic Chabad melodies, performed by Moshe Mona Rosenbloom and Nemuel Haroush, accompanied the celebrations, adding a soulful backdrop to the evening. The event underscored the unity and resilience of the community in preserving its heritage.
