The family of the abducted soldier Nimrod Cohen, who is being held captive by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, was invited by the IDF to a ceremony for bereaved families. This is despite the fact that a sign of life was received regarding him recently.
The event to which they were invited to is a Hanukkah event for bereaved families. The father of the abductee said that when he entered the link attached to the invitation, he was asked to indicate the proximity to the space.
The IDF Spokesperson responded this evening: "Inviting the family of the abducted soldier Nimrod Cohen to the bereaved families event was done by mistake and in good faith. The IDF regrets the incident and will draw lessons accordingly. The brigade commander spoke today with Nimrod's parents, and apologized for the insensitivity and the mistake that was made.
"The family's invitation stemmed from a desire to honor and strengthen the family's connection with the brigade's soldiers and commanders. The IDF is accompanying and will continue to accompany the families of the abductees and is making every effort to bring them home."
