The IDF investigation of its strategic planning during the night before October 7th reveals a number of insights into the army's situation before the attack and the massacre, according to Channel 12 reporter Nir Dvori.
The first conclusion is that the General Staff failed to call a complete general situational assessment, which would have involved all heads of intelligence and would have required making full use of available information.
However, the report also notes that according to the existing intelligence in the hands of the IDF at the time, there was no indication of an attack being imminent or in the immediate future.
Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi did conduct a partial assessment that night and called for another one the next day - but by then, it was already too late.
