Is this the final chapter for the Houthis? Arabs link Israel’s strike to their demise 

Following the massive attack last night (Wednesday to Thursday) on the ports and power plants controlled by the Houthis, the Arabic press is reporting that many in the Arab world believe that Israel has decided to finish the Houthis off.

Journalist Ashraf al-Ashri said in an interview with the Cairo News Channel that the attacks were indicative of Israel's "planning and preparations." According to him, "Israel intends to eliminate everything it calls 'Iran's long arms,' whether it is Hezbollah, Syria or Gaza. Now the battle has moved to Yemen," he said, adding that "the sites were carefully chosen," and mentioned that to date, "16 Israeli attacks have been carried out in Yemen in Houthi areas."

The fires at the power facilities in Sana'a continued until the morning, when heavy smoke covered the skies of the capital. According to a report in Al-Mashhad Al-Yamani, many residents were affected by the smoke rising from the Haziz power plant in the south of the capital.

Medical sources reported that a number of residents, mainly asthma and lung patients, were evacuated to a hospital near the area of the attack for treatment.

The damage to the Haziz power plant, which supplies electricity to about two-thirds of the capital, caused heavy economic damage. The heavy smoke is due to the burning of crude fuel tanks in the facility.

In an interview with Al-Hadath TV, political analyst Mahmoud Al-Taher claimed that Israel is targeting civilian targets. "Israel does not differentiate between military and civilian action when it launches a war against our country. It harms the people's infrastructure in order to provoke their anger, especially since Israel has never attacked Yemen except during the Houthi era," he said.

"The Houthis caused the destruction of the port of Hodeidah and the violation of Yemeni sovereignty. He added that "it was the Houthis who initiated the military operation for a week" and expressed hope that "the Yemeni government and the Presidential Command Council will not listen to external pressure to stop the military operations and will continue to liberate province after province from the Houthis, especially when they are on the verge of collapse."

According to a report on the Axios website, Israel informed the United States in advance of its intention to attack Sana'a. The Associated Press reports that the United States was not involved in the attacks.
