A new complaint was recently filed against an IDF soldier who holds French citizenship, for torture and war crimes, after he allegedly documented a Palestinian terrorist detained in a "humiliating" manner, human rights organizations in France announced.
It should be noted that a similar complaint filed a few months ago was closed by the French prosecutor's office last September.
The prosecutor wrote at the time that the facts appeared to be "insufficiently characterized," and that "the elements that can support the complaint are insufficient to establish the existence of possible substantial acts of participation."
In the new complaint filed with the French court, a video from March 19 shows a Palestinian terrorist tied with a rope, wearing a white jumpsuit that is open in the upper body, while he is being found in a vehicle by IDF soldiers.
In the video, one of the soldiers is seen speaking in French to another soldier, apparently also French, and saying: "Have you seen these bastards, my nephew? ... I'm going to show you his back, you'll laugh, they tortured him to make him talk," the soldier said of the terrorist.
"You were happy on October 7, a bunch of dogs," the soldier said.
According to the prosecution, the soldier admitted that he was the one who filmed the video, and now it is claimed that he is at least an accomplice to war crimes.
"It is urgent that France investigate, prosecute and punish its citizens involved in international crimes, including the genocide in Gaza," said Shawan Jabareen, executive director of Al-Haq, quoted in a press release.
