Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, discussing Assad's fall and emphasizing Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to Palestinian statehood as part of any normalization deal with Israel.

During their late-night meeting, the two leaders discussed recent developments in Syria following Assad's fall, as well as broader Middle East issues including the Gaza conflict. Blinken stated that "regional stability hinges on Saudi-Israeli normalization, but this requires both calm in Gaza and a pathway to a Palestinian state."

Despite recent reports suggesting potential flexibility in Saudi Arabia's position, Riyadh firmly denies any shift in its stance. Saudi officials stated, "Riyadh has always stood with the Palestinians, and the demand for a clear path to Palestinian statehood remains non-negotiable. The Crown Prince's position on this matter has not changed."

Blinken confirmed these sentiments: "I heard it directly from Mohammed bin Salman - the Saudis are more convinced than ever that a Palestinian state is necessary to resolve the conflict."

Addressing Israeli concerns, Blinken added, "This won't happen immediately, which is understandable. Israelis fear another October 7. We need to work together to ensure their security while creating a concrete path to peace through a Palestinian state."
