A source in US President-elect Donald Trump's team claims that senior Hamas officials, or those who remained among them, informed the mediators of their "inability" to determine the exact number of hostages they were holding, which led to a delay in publishing the details of the deal and its progress.
The same source in the Trump team says that "further progress" has been made in recent days in talks with Hamas for a deal, Sky News reported in Arabic.
The United States feels that there is a "real will," both on the part of Israel and Hamas, to stop the war in the Gaza Strip – more than ever. Israel's neighbors, apparently Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, have urged Trump's team to prevent the division of the Gaza Strip or the permanent displacement of residents of northern Gaza, according to the report.
The Trump team is not only up-to-date on the latest developments in the negotiations for the deal being conducted by the Biden administration, the source told Sky News, but a number of members of the team, led by Middle East envoy Steve Whitkoff and Trump's envoy for hostage affairs, Adam Buehler, have recently made a series of visits to Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Qatar to coordinate work with the "friendly countries."
Sky News in Arabic also reported that Trump's team listened to the demands of those "friendly countries" that demanded the implementation of the two-state solution decision through a timetable agreed upon by all parties.
