At a special and moving ceremony held this evening (Sunday) at the "Comfort and Rescue for Israel" command center in Givatayim, a special food truck was launched for IDF soldiers in memory of the Israeli hero, Sergeant Major Anar Shapira, may his memory be blessed.
Anar was a fighter in the Nahal Brigade's reconnaissance unit, and during the terrible massacre on October 7th, he saved the lives of seven people who fled the massacre at the Nova Festival and found shelter in a fortified room near Re'im. Anar was killed while protecting them with his body in a battle with the terrorists. The food truck dedicated in his memory will serve IDF soldiers at bases across the country, in the assembly areas in the north and south, and will envelop them in light, warmth, and hope.
The special initiative was conceived by Anar's parents and the CEO of the organization, Mushiko Moscovitz, when they met on Memorial Day, October 7th, in the same fortified shelter where Anar was murdered. With the generous contribution of Mrs. Alessandra Safra from Brazil, they managed to bring it to fruition.
The emotional ceremony was hosted by media personality Lior Weinberg and attended by: Anar's parents, friends, and family, the donor Mrs. Alessandra Safra, singer Noa Giladi, relatives, public figures, and the Minister of the Interior.
Arbel: "Today we have all gathered here to continue the legacy of Anar. In addition to being a brave soldier and a hero of Israel, Anar was a special person who loved the country and its people. This vehicle is an expression of the unity we aspire to as a people. An expression of the unity that Anar aspired to, and especially in these days, when there are many disagreements, we must hold on to Anar's legacy and unite around our shared values."
Moshiko Moskowitz, CEO of "Comfort and Rescue for Israel," connected his words to the upcoming Hanukkah holiday in his speech and said: "Next week we will celebrate Hanukkah, a holiday of light, a holiday that instills hope, small flames illuminating the darkness. Sergeant First Class Inar Shapira, may his memory be blessed, was a spark of light in great darkness. The story of Hanukkah is one of the victory of light over darkness, the few against the many. Inar's act of bravery, like the miracle of the oil jug, was a victory of the human spirit over difficulties and evil."
