During the tour, Lieutenant General Halevi shared the IDF's objectives in the region. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to weaken Hamas and prevent future attacks like the one on October 7th. Halevi stated, "We are targeting Hamas’ infrastructure and leaders, making them feel the pressure every day, in order to bring back as many hostages as possible—alive, I hope, and those who are not, to the grave of Israel."
The Chief of Staff also spoke about the return of residents to the border area, noting the significance of their return. "The border area is gaining vibrancy as residents return," Halevi said, "and with their return, our responsibility increases. We are committed to providing a stronger security response so that they feel safe."
He concluded his remarks by highlighting the collective mission of the IDF: "The mission of striking Hamas, bringing back the captives, and the return of the residents is what drives us. This gives me the strength to continue the mission, and I know it is the common goal for every soldier in the IDF, regular and reserve, to continue doing their best."
