There are currently many conflicting reports regarding a possible deal with Hamas for at least some of the remaining hostages. While both sides have made concessions - Hamas has given up on immediate IDF withdrawal and an end to the war, and Israel will release murderers - some of the details remain sticky.

For instance, the question of the number of hostages released in the first round remains a matter of serious contention, with Hamas wanting to release as few as possible while Prime Minister Netanyahu wants as many as possible released.

Furthermore, Hamas has said it wants written guarantees from Israel that it would not immediately restart the war once the temporary ceasefire ends in the first stage of the deal.
