The IDF today (Tuesday) allowed the publication of the name of IDF soldier Major (Res.) Moshiko (Maxim) Rozenwald, 35, from Modi'in-Maccabim-Reut, company commander in the 7107th Engineering Battalion, Nahal Brigade, who fell in battle in the southern Gaza Strip, along with another soldier whose name has not yet been allowed to be published.
The number of IDF casualties since the beginning of the war has risen to 818.
The incident took place yesterday afternoon in Rafah when a reserve force from the 7107th Engineering Battalion, which operates under the Nahal Brigade, entered a dilapidated building which collapsed.
The IDF did not identify the involvement of terrorists, a booby-trap or explosives, and it is believed that the building collapsed due to damage sustained from previous attacks and the entry of the fighters inside. In the incident, in which the two fighters were killed, several other fighters were rescued in moderate condition and transferred to a hospital for medical treatment.
