Following the launch of another ballistic missile from the direction of Yemen, intercepted by the air defense system even before it crossed the country's borders, Channel 14 News correspondent for military and security affairs, Hillel Biton Rosen, assesses: "It is not impossible that in Israel, both in the political echelon and in the security establishment, there will be someone who will seek to act against these threats."
He also noted that in the past year, dozens of missiles have been launched from Yemen toward Israel, most of which were successfully intercepted by the air defense system. However, one of the launches in the past caused a serious incident in which a civilian was killed in Tel Aviv. "Ultimately, whoever continues to attack us – we have to show him that we are serious," he added.
Since October 7, and in recent weeks in general, there have been repeated launches by the Houthis in Yemen, when just this morning a naval missile ship intercepted a UAV launched into Israeli territory. Since September, Israel has refrained from responding to the launches, but assessments are that the situation may change soon.
"We have attacked in Yemen twice in the past," Biton Rosen noted, "and I cautiously estimate that there will be those who will seek to attack for the third time as well, because the message, apparently, has not yet been understood."
The sirens were also sounded today in Tel Aviv, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's testimony in the city's District Court was taking place at the same time. The testimony continued as usual and was not interrupted despite the siren.
