This strategic plane boasts advanced command, control, and intelligence capabilities, enabling it to collect data in any weather condition. The intelligence gathered by the Oron is immediately shared with relevant IDF branches, ensuring efficient and rapid decision-making.

The Oron is part of the 122nd Squadron, the IAF’s intelligence unit, alongside the Shavit and Eitam aircraft.

According to the defense establishment, the Oron is a multi-functional, multi-branch aircraft with revolutionary operational and technological capabilities. It was developed by the Ministry of Defense’s Directorate of Defence Research & Development in collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries. Manned by both air patrolmen and intelligence officers, the aircraft can extract valuable real-time information from both nearby and distant locations.

The aircraft became operational during the ongoing war, fulfilling critical military needs, and has already completed hundreds of operational sorties. Its arrival at Nevatim marks a new phase in its activation process, including the Air Force’s adoption of its maintenance platform.
