Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened the security cabinet today (Sunday) to discuss a number of pressing issues such as the situation in Judea and Samaria, the new regime in Syria, and the hostage negotiations in Gaza.
Prime Minister Netanyahu previously released a video statement where he said that Israel has no intention of intervening in Syria, and that it would determine its policy towards the new country following Bashar Assad's fall based on developments on the ground.
Meanwhile, the government and defense officials are increasingly nervous regarding the security situation in Judea and Samaria following the fall of Assad. Pro-Hamas and pro-Iran messages have ballooned in social media and the fear of the imminent collapse of the Palestinian Authority is on the minds of many.
Regarding a possible hostage deal, some official have expressed optimism that a deal could be reached before President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration a month and five days from now, but Prime Minister Netanyahu remains circumspect and insists people avoid such speculations and leaks.
