Senior Israeli security officials have been meeting with their Jordanian counterparts over the situation in Syria and concern of expanding terrorist activity within Jordan itself, according to a report published today (Saturday) by Axios.
According to the report, the Shin Bet director and senior IDF officers met on Friday with the director of the Jordanian general intelligence service, Ahmad Husni, as well as senior Jordanian military commanders.
Jordan is reportedly one of the main lines of communication between Israel and the HTS rebels who brought down Bashar Assad's Syrian regime so rapidly this week.
Israeli and Jordanian security forces also fear a "domino effect" wherein terrorist and jihadist forces within the country would become far more active in activities within Jordan and in smuggling weapons to terrorist forces in Judea and Samaria.
Iran has already been implicated in smuggling large numbers of weapons, machines, and money into this area in order to support terrorist attacks and general instability in the area, and Israel and Jordan fear the victory of Jihadist forces in Syria will only encourage things to get worse.
