The newspaper "Al-Akhbar," which is close to Hezbollah, reported this morning (Wednesday) that the negotiations entered a new phase yesterday against the backdrop of "principled approvals" for a ceasefire proposal from the Israeli security delegation. According to the report, the Israeli delegation held meetings that lasted for hours with senior Egyptian intelligence officials.
It was also claimed that the parties discussed a ceasefire lasting 60 days in exchange for the release of 30 hostages held by terrorist organizations in Gaza. A senior Egyptian official told "Al-Akhbar" that Cairo has provided Israel with the names of 30 hostages who meet the conditions of the humanitarian phase, due to their old age and medical condition.
It should be noted that the Qatari newspaper reported that "the negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza have reached an advanced stage." Now the Israeli delegation is discussing the list of names that Hamas submitted. A source familiar with the details noted that "the parties are serious about reaching an unprecedented agreement, with Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the U.S. participating in overseeing the negotiations."
It was also reported that Hamas agreed that the transition phase of the deal would last about 60 days during which food, medicine, and fuel would enter the Gaza Strip. In the coming hours, an Israeli delegation is expected to arrive in Cairo to discuss the details of the agreement, which include areas from which the IDF will withdraw during the agreement period, serving as a transitional period until channels are opened for a permanent ceasefire and the end of the war.
Additionally, the Prime Minister held two meetings with forums of families of hostages. The meetings were held with the Families Headquarters Assembly and the Hope Forum. During the meeting, Netanyahu noted that the fall of the Assad regime, which occurred also due to our determined actions against Hezbollah and Hamas, could help advance a deal for the return of the hostages.
