The French Foreign Ministry announced that it "calls on Israel to urgently withdraw from Syrian territory" and announced that any entry of military forces violates the 1974 cease-fire agreements.
Despite the chaos in Syria, the French Foreign Ministry once again chooses to deal exclusively with Israel. The French Foreign Ministry spokesperson issued a political statement on behalf of the Foreign Minister in which he called on Israel to withdraw from the Syrian Hermon and the northern Golan Heights.
In his statement, French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjornet issued a strong condemnation of Israel and announced: "Any military activity in the demilitarized zone between Israel and Syria is a violation of the 1974 ceasefire agreements, France calls on Israel to withdraw from the demilitarized zone and respect the territorial sovereignty of its neighbor, Syria."
The French condemnation comes after several statements of condemnation from Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. And this despite the fact that Israel has emphasized to the international community that this deployment is defensive and temporary in nature.
